Visitor Survey Insights at the Isfahan National Museum of Arts
An examination of the most and least appealing works at the Isfahan National Museum of Arts through a survey of 200 visitors provides valuable information that can enhance the visitor experience and aid in planning future exhibitions. The results of this survey indicate that paintings, particularly contemporary artworks, were the most attractive to visitors. This reflects the audience's inclination towards contemporary and innovative art, which presents an opportunity for the museum to further showcase this category of works through temporary exhibitions or educational workshops, thereby increasing audience engagement.
Additionally, other works such as engraved panels and wooden lattice windows were recognized as the most captivating sections. These pieces represent the rich traditional and cultural arts of Iran and can attract the attention of visitors. It is recommended that the museum create more promotion for these arts by organizing special events such as training courses, workshops, or seasonal exhibitions. The presence of the weapon collection in the second hall also indicates the audience's appreciation for diversity in exhibitions, thus it can be leveraged as one of the museum's strengths to attract more visitors.
On the other hand, the survey results also highlighted the least popular works in the museum. Stone chips in the first hall, seven-colored tiles, and paintings from the Qajar period were identified as the lowest appeal. This situation may be related to visitors' insufficient awareness of the artistic values of these works or a lack of emotional connection with them. To improve this situation, the museum could attract audience attention by providing more comprehensive explanations, specialized tours, or knowledgeable guides accompany visitors to discuss these works.
Overall, the presented survey can serve as a valuable resource for improving and enhancing the visitor experience at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Isfahan. Utilizing the results of this initiative can help increase the museum's appeal and accessibility, as well as facilitate future planning processes.
To make better use of the museum space, it is recommended that the following programs and events be given more serious consideration: conducting educational workshops, creating specialized tours, organizing temporary exhibitions, employing modern technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), hosting cultural and artistic events, developing advertising campaigns, creating interactive spaces, and reviewing and analyzing visitor feedback. Implementing these suggestions can contribute to enhancing the visitor experience and attracting new audiences to the National Museum of Fine Arts in Isfahan.
